TERRY WINDERS Mr. Winders, a 35-year veteran of the Equipment Leasing industry conducts seminars, is a well-known author on the subject, and has acted as a consultant to the World Bank, the United States Department of Commerce, the Equipment Leasing Association, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and a select group of Banks and Leasing Companies. He is one of the leading consultants on how to establish Leasing activities and manage a Leasing operation. He also supports Lessees with structure and lease documentation advice. He is called upon to conduct audits of leasing companies to establish value prior to a sale or to qualify performance. He also acts as an expert witness on leasing for litigation in legal and tax disputes. He is considered one of the leading experts on how the Internal Revenue Service reviews commercial equipment leases. He has sat on the on the board of the Certified Lease Professional Foundation (CLP) For the past twenty-five years he has served as principal instructor and designer of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association of America's “Principles of Leasing Workshops, I and II”. For many years he presented a bank-leasing seminar for the Bankers Administration Institute on how to establish a profitable leasing department. He also taught the senior bank examiners, how to review a bank leasing department, for the Federal Reserve in Washington D.C. and has trained the examiners for the FDIC on how to prepare a lease portfolio for sale. Mr. Winders' career spans the development of much of the current rules that have affected leasing including tax, accounting, legal, structuring and bank regulations. His insight into the "How's" and "Why's" of Leasing have been refined by 20 years as President and Senior Officer of both independent and bank leasing operations. Mr. Winders conducts in-house training for many lessors on Leasing Sales Techniques, Proper Operations, Paper Flow, and Audit Procedures. He has been an industry speaker at conferences for numerous State Banking Associations including Kentucky, Texas, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and California. Mr. Winders was a consultant for the World Bank in a project to introduce equipment leasing into the Russian banking system in 1995 and in 1998 he conducted a seminar in Washington DC for the Russian Duma for the Department of Commerce. He also was on the board of directors of the Certified Lease Professionals (CLP) that trains and certifies leasing personnel. In 1987 Banker's Publishing and later the American Banker's Association published Mr. Winders' textbook for the banking industry, Profitable Equipment Leasing, A Practical Guide for Bankers. Also, he has written quarterly articles on equipment leasing for the Commercial Lending Review published by Institutional Investor, Inc. and the American Bankers Association. He has currently a new book called Introduction to Equipment Leasing that is available in CD Form from his web sight. Mr. Winders has been a guest speaker at numerous trade shows and conventions for equipment companies such as the American Bankers Association, The Community Bankers Association, the American Machine Tool Dealers Association, the National Association of Marine Dealers, the American Medical Association, the Western Association of Equipment Lessors the National Association of Equipment Lease Brokers, the Institute for International Research, and the American Cash Flow Association and the American Woodworkers Association. Mr. Winders received his Master of Business Administration and his Bachelor of Science degrees from the College of Notre Dame. He attended and taught various courses of the American Bankers Association and attended the Stonier Graduate School of Banking where he was elected Class President.
